The meaning behind Solum Wellness
Solum Wellness was chosen specifically for its Latin origins and its connection to body restoration and overall well-being. Solum means “soil”- the earth’s nourishing foundation that energizes and supports all life. It also echoes soul, sun (sol), and Sawoul, an ancient root of the word “spirit.” Taken all together, Solum denotes healing through a return to earth’s fertile ground:
restoring what is essential, enlivening that which is tired, and rekindling the connection between body, mind, and spirit.
In Chinese medicine, human life is born from the meeting of yin and yang—a dynamic interplay of substance and movement, stillness and spark. At their center lives the shen: the spirit that animates us. This spirit dwells in the heart and governs consciousness, emotion, and vitality. It is both luminous and grounded—like sunlight in the soil.
When our foundation is depleted—through chronic stress, illness, or disconnection—we lose our sense of rootedness and our capacity to thrive.
Solum Wellness was created as a place to reclaim that foundation. Just as soil must be tended to bear good fruit, the body must be nourished and supported at its roots. Here, healing is not reductionistic or rushed. It is cyclical, seasonal, and personal—guided by ancient wisdom, modern tools, and a deep respect for one’s individual story.
